FAQ’s

The Council’s Making a Better Burnie Strategic Plan is the long-term vision of Burnie City Council. It is a plan for the things that the council can do.

The Burnie Change Agenda is a plan made by the people who live in Burnie to improve the lives of the people who live in Burnie.

We sometimes hear comments like, ‘That’s not a state issue; it’s federal.’ Or, ‘That’s not council; it’s the health department.’ Well, for this Change Agenda, there are no limits to what it could become—this is the community’s Change Agenda.

Our role is to help describe and help implement changes Burnie people want to see. The Change Agenda will guide Burnie Works in our work with community over the next few years. It will also be something the Burnie Community can take ownership of.

We are funded to work directly with the community to find and try ways to improve lives. We work with community to design and run projects. We help people and groups create change and build capability. By working together with our community through the Change Agenda, we can effectively advocate for your needs with governments and local service providers to make your desired changes a reality.

We aren’t sure yet. Things seem to be changing very fast these days, perhaps it is ongoing? What do you think?

Burnie Works is a not-for-profit organisation supported with funding from federal and state governments and philanthropic (charitable) organisations. We are fortunate to have strong funding behind us and a dedicated team committed to improving the lives of people in Burnie.
