Welcome to Burnie Works

Burnie Works is a collective impact initiative contributing to positive change in the areas of education, employment, justice and wellbeing for children, families and young people. It is place-based work that has emerged from issues and opportunities identified in the pataway / Burnie community. The work is supported by government and partners, but everything – from identifying the issues to addressing them – is guided by the lived experience and hard work of pataway Burnie locals.

Become a member of Burnie Works, join a network or working group, hear about events, workshops, news, opportunities to participate and more.

As we live, work, learn, and grow in Pataway/Burnie, we acknowledge the collective wisdom of the original custodians of this place and it stories – the Palawa/Pakana people. Their connection to, and care for, Country and community is the best example of place based collective impact work we could hope for.

We commit to walking with Palawa/ Pakana people to listen and respect the deep cultural history so that together we can create a strong and vibrant future for Pataway/Burnie and its people.

We acknowledge sovereignty was never ceded, and that it always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
