BIG Science Fair

Burnie’s BIG team is excited to announce that the BIG Science Fair 2023 will be held on Friday 8 September this year!

BIG is excited to be able to support this event, which has been an important part of STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, art and maths) for students in the northwest for the past 20 years.

Where will the Science Fair be held?

University of Tasmania, Cradle Coast Campus

Who can enter?

All students from years 5 to 12 from north-west and west coast schools.

How can I support the Science Fair?

Become a sponsor or a judge. The BIG Science Fair is a prime opportunity for business and industry on the Coast to contribute toward the next generation of scientists and engineers. We are also putting out the call for interested people to volunteer to judge the awards – we will publish a sign-up form here shortly.

What is BIG?

BIG is a working group facilitated by Burnie Works and run by a talented line up of teachers, professionals, businesses and community members right here in pataway / Burnie.

BIG aims to support our young people to:

  • Begin the dream. Imagine the possibilities. Go for it!
  • To sow the seeds of aspiration with young people early in their education journey.
  • To build strong and active connections that create pathways for young people.
  • To cultivate innovation and resilience in young people.
