Children, families and young people

Burnie Works establishes deep and enduring partnerships with people, families, schools and services within our local community and together we contribute to positive change.

Education

Every Day Counts

The ‘Every Day Counts’ campaign is a Burnie Works’ initiative to contribute to improving student attendance at school through a shared commitment by students, parents, caregivers, schools and the community.

Wellbeing

Burnie City Youth Council

Burnie City Youth Council enables young people to contribute their voice to positive change in matters that affect them in pataway / Burnie. It is a Special Committee of the Burnie City Council and is coordinated by Burnie Works.

Justice

Justice

Justice is a focus area for Burnie Works that has gained traction as a working group in early 2021. Members of the group come from the criminal justice system, community services and education.

Education

Books in Homes

Books in Homes provides books of choice to families and children. It aims to inspire young people to develop a love of reading, prepare for school and develop reading skills for life.

Wellbeing

First 1000 Days

The first 1000 days is an ageing period from pregnancy to 2 years old. If parents and children get everything they need in this time frame then it can set up the child with health and wellbeing for life! That is the key messaging that is being promoted around Burnie through an education campaign with roots at the Burnie Child and Family Centre.
