Expressions of Interest – Working it Out Training

Expressions of Interest – Working it Out Training

The LGBTIQ+ Inclusive training for September are now fully booked.

We are now calling for expressions of interest to hold workshops in 2024 to introduce participants to LGBTIQ+ inclusion through a range of interactive learning activities.

Participants will become familiar with LGBTIQ+ terminology and how to embed inclusive behaviours into every-day activities and organisational practices.

We would like to invite members of the community, including Businesses to attend FREE this training.

Burnie Works chair Jacqueline de Jonge said “Last year Burnie Works and West North West Working attended LGBTIQ+ cultural awareness and inclusivity training, wonderfully hosted by Garry from Working It Out Tasmania Inc. Burnie Works undertake place-based work that focuses on issues and opportunities identified by the pataway / Burnie community. We then enable action (through a large cast of stakeholders) to address these issues. Through our work with the Burnie City Youth Council, as well as other partners, we have identified that supporting the LGBTIQ+ community is a priority in Burnie.”

Our team gained valuable tools that will enable us to support our community to foster inclusive behaviours. We also gained insights on how the LGBTIQ+ community could be further supported “by the system”, so we can advocate on their behalf for systems change.

This training is highly recommended to community members who would like to gain tools and insights into inclusive behaviours. We believe this training will also be very beneficial for the business community, in particular for managers of people.

Working It Out is Tasmania’s sexuality, gender and intersex status support and education service. Working It Out provides support and advocacy services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) Tasmanians and education and training programmes to schools, workplaces, government and non-government organisations.

These training opportunities have been made possible by Burnie Works as part of its community capacity building initiative.
