Get Involved

Everyone can participate. By reading to your child, attending Launching into Learning sessions, visiting the Child and Family Learning Centre, supporting your child to Dream BIG, and sending your child to school – you are already participating.

We are often out and about, so when you see us, come and say hi! It’s helpful for us to hear what issues you’re facing in Burnie and what opportunities you see. After all, locals know what Burnie needs – because locals know how Burnie Works.

Join a working group or network. Our working groups are helping Burnie work because of people like you – signing up to become a member, finding out how you can help, and pitching in. Our working groups have different focuses, tackling different community challenges in different ways such as increasing youth involvement in education and improving employment prospects and school attendance rates.

To ensure our work is truly community led, and for community to be at the centre of the work we do together, it is vital that members have opportunities to voice concerns and needs, and are empowered to identify opportunities for action.

Middle Years Project

We’ve been hearing how parents and carers find information and support for them and their kids. We are now looking at working with parents/carers and the community to develop a model to respond to these needs.

Mental Health Project

Burnie Works will be hosting a process so that community members can identify how the mental health system can be more effective and supportive of young people's needs.

Sign the Pledge

Burnie Businesses are invited to sign the PLEDGE to provide Student Friendly Workplaces as part of the Every Day Counts campaign.
