Burnie Works is seeking to recruit new Directors.

Burnie Works is an independent, community-based, not-for-profit organisation with twenty staff and an annual budget of over $2.5 million. Burnie Works seeks to activate a thriving, resilient, resourceful, and capable community that is equipped and mobilised to identify issues affecting them, find solutions, and make positive change in Burnie. We take a whole of community approach and use local data, research, evidence, and the community’s voices to identify and agree on local concerns, strengths, and solutions.

Burnie Works is a Company Limited by Guarantee with a Board of Directors and several sub-committees, working groups, and advisory groups to ensure community involvement and support the achievement of its purpose.

The Board seeks nominations from individuals interested in contributing to the next phase of Burnie Works and supporting positive change in the Burnie region. In particular, the Board is seeking individuals who have skills in the following areas:

  • Management accounting and/or financial management
  • People and Culture
  • Community members with a good understanding of the challenges faced by people living in Burnie.

The organisation appoints directors for a three-year term. The position is voluntary. Meetings are held monthly, and generally last for around 2 hours.
