Lots covered at today’s Burnie City Youth Council meeting – Councillors should sleep well tonight!

This morning the Youth Council:

• were presented with their new folders
• discussed how we will communicate this year
• looked at an opportunity to join the Tasmanian Youth Forum
• listened to Teeny Brumby – Mayor of Burnie address some of the group’s ‘wonderings’ about Council
• had a quick overview of official meeting procedures
  (we start official meetings next month)
• learned about the Council’s Strategic Plan and Vision for the next twenty years (and how they can contribute their ideas to this process)

Councillors then went through the election process where students who wished to nominate for a Council position delivered their speech. We heard inspiring speeches from the heart. The adults in the room felt privileged to have been able to listen to the wonderful speeches. Youth Councillors then voted.
